Dr Charles Dick

Dr Charles Dick is an Australian-trained general orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in the treatment of conditions affecting the upper limb (hand, wrist, elbow & shoulder) and knee.
He is accredited at the Nambour Selangor Private Hospital and offers his services to private patients and patients covered by DVA or WorkCover Queensland on the Sunshine Coast who are seeking advice and treatment.
He was born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland and graduated from Ballymena Academy top of his class and went on to attend one of the best Medical schools in the UK at The University of Newcastle Upon Tyne. He graduated with a Merit in 2000 and commenced surgical training with the Royal College of Surgeons of England. During his surgical training he also worked as an anatomy demonstrator and lecturer at the University of Leeds. After successfully completing 4 years of basic surgical training and being awarded Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons England in 2006, he emmigrated to Australia to be with his wife who is an anaesthetist from the Sunshine Coast. He completed further orthopaedic training with the Queensland advanced orthopaedic training programme and was awarded his Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2015, and is a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
He currently holds a consultant position at Sunshine Coast University Hospital, and is a training supervisor to the advanced trainees of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and is also actively involved in the training and education of medical students. He is an Associate Professor at the University of Queensland where he delivers lectures and participates in anatomy tutorials for the students. He is a member of the Queensland Hand Society and regularly attends conferences and seminars to further his knowledge and surgical skills.
Dr Dick lives on the Sunshine Coast with his wife and two children and actively enjoys the unique and healthy lifestyle that the Coast provides. In the past he was a keen rugby player and played for the University of Queensland 1st XV and competed internationally but currently he enjoys completing triathlons, cycling and running. His other hobbies include fishing, camping and surfing. He has embraced the local community and lifestyle of the Sunshine Coast and understands the needs and expectations of the people living here.
He treats patients for a variety of orthopaedic conditions including total joint arthroplasty for degenerative conditions of the shoulder, hip and knee.
